Cautions of Galvanizing

In general, steelwork is about a design and welding job. Hot-dipped galvanized coatings can be classified by types of structure as following;

1) Large structural work consists mainly of pipe bending and large welding assembly
2) No pipe on a workpiece and using other steel parts instead
3) The use of pipes and steel products together.
4) Cast iron
5) Small work using screw and nut

All types of steel works must be detailed the surface work before being galvanized. If the works are painted, the paint must be removed before  galvanizing. In the case of Re-galvanize or Removing the original galvanized work, it will cost you additionally. If you want to reduce costs from the aforementioned cases, you might use sandbasting to remove the paint on steelworks. It is more economical than a pipework because pipework is required drilling to allow galvanize flowing out and prevent cracking. An explosion of workpieces results in damage and harm to workers as well.

If you have welding steel, please be careful of small leak and slag at the workpiece because the products will not be galvanized if they contain these problems.

Small leaks will lead to the piece of rust from the hole if the leak is large and deep as galvanizing cannot enter the hole. So, the rust will have occurred after the dipping within a week.

Small works regarding screw and nut works require you to estimate the size of nuts. After coating, it will thicken the surface. If you haven’t estimated the new size of nuts after coating, the female lock nut will not fit male nuts or male connectors. So, you have to plate twice and it results in a higher price.
